Top Ten Coffee Table Books

This week we’re finding our groove with styling. Styling around the home can be such a joy, especially when you have all the decor staples you need to be able to play around with different looks.

In one of our latest You Tube Videos, we tackled Shelf Styling. For us, there are some pillars of styling that come into play in most of our projects, and books are one of the most important foundations.

As we promised you we would share our Top Ten Coffee Table Books. The beauty of these big, neutral books? They’re not just for your coffee table. You can style these gorgeous books all over your home. Your shelves, your entry tables, your kitchen, your bedroom.. The list is endless!

Amber Interiors

For me, as a designer, I like to select books that have a special meaning to me. Some significance in my career and learning that I’ve enjoyed along the way. I’ve always admired other designers and their work, and I love sitting down with books by Amber Lewis, Athena Calderone, Jenni Kayne and just being flat out inspired. I’ve also always loved following Nate Berkus’ career, and remember fondly an incredible interview with him and Tommy Smythe (also a big fan!) that I was able to be on the sidelines for while working at SRD.

I’ve always loved Fashion, learning and loving the career of Tom Ford. One fun fact is I’ve also been a long time admirer of Christian Liaigre, and also dreamed of one day getting married at his beautiful spot I used to spend my Christmas Holidays, in St. Barth, Le Sereno.

Here’s a little escape view of this gorgeous retreat.

It’s important to really love what you do and put your passion behind your styling. These are great jumping off points, but it’s important to purchase and invest in books that have meaning to you. That being said, sometimes vintage is the way to go. Also can be a more affordable route. If that’s the case, we always recommend going for beautifully spines. Try taking off the book “jacket” and seeing what’s underneath. Often times we have some on-set giggles when we can locate beautiful spines of some interesting books - Mario Lopez, Birds, Texas, to name a few random finds. But sometimes the thrill of an affordable find that is stunning is worth a styling moment - so be sure to have fun with it.

This list changes every season for us, so here is my most current Top Ten Favourite Coffee Table Books.
